This course is designed for all employees as an essential introduction to basic fire safety awareness. It is an invaluable component of the induction program for new hires and serves as a solid foundation for those looking to enhance their understanding of fire safety.

You are likely aware of the potentially devastating consequences of workplace fires, including loss of life, injuries, property damage, and disruptions to business continuity. Importantly, most fires are preventable, making fire safety training crucial.

The significance of fire safety in the workplace is reinforced by health and safety legislation, which mandates that employers establish comprehensive policies and procedures while ensuring that their employees receive appropriate training.

Duration:
A minimum of 4 contact hours in the classroom.

Syllabus:
A range of subjects is covered including:
• The common causes of fire
• The behaviour of fire
• Legislation (brief) and responsibilities
• Fire Prevention
• What to do if a fire breaks out
• How to use fire extinguishers
• Emergency evacuation procedures

Certification:
The qualification does not have an expiry date but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital.

Numbers:
A maximum of 16 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 14 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.

A student cannot assume responsibility in the workplace until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role.
